Why do you attend a dog obedience class? Presumably to learn how to have a better behaved dog and develop trust and respect between you.
However, just doing exercises is simply just doing exercises! What is the purpose? For example, you can teach your dog to lay down and then what? Does your dog get up a few moments or a minute later? If so, the dog as simply learned ‘a trick’. In real life in many situations, you may require your dog to remain laying down for a good period of time.
When walking together, is your dog aware of you being together or are you just an anchor on the other end of the lead?
When you speak to your dog is your dog listening and willing to respond appropriately? Or do you feel as though you are merely ‘leaving a message’ in the hope your dog will consider later!
Our Class Groups include the focus of the behaviour of you and your dog. You are a participant as much as your dog. Learning together should awaken a far better understanding of your dog.
Week by week learn, progress and achieve. Therefore, treats, toys etc are not necessary because you will develop relationship not resource.
Look forward to hearing from you
